Colombo will once again come alive on 13 December 2026 as the ICA International Half-Marathon returns for its highly anticipated third edition. Following the remarkable success of last year’s event, which welcomed over 2,700+ runners from 35+ countries, this year promises to be bigger, more inclusive, and more memorable than ever.

Featuring four race categories – the 21.1KM Half-Marathon, 10KM Challengers Run, 5KM Family Run, and the newly introduced 2KM Fun Run – the event offers an unforgettable race-day experience for seasoned athletes, casual runners, families, and first-time participants alike, all set against Colombo’s iconic coastal backdrop.

Prize money at the ICA International Half-Marathon 2026 is awarded equally across male and female divisions in the Half Marathon (21.1KM), Challengers Run (10KM), and Family Run (5KM) categories. The 2KM Fun Run is a non-competitive participation category and is not eligible for prize money.

Get ready for the third edition of the ICA International Half-Marathon, taking place on 13 December 2026 in the vibrant city of Colombo. Building on the remarkable success of last year’s event, which attracted over 2,500 runners from 35+ countries, this year promises to be bigger, more inclusive, and more exciting than ever.

Whether you’re an elite athlete, a recreational runner, or taking part for the very first time, join participants from across South Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and beyond for a truly world-class running experience. This year’s event features four race categories – Half-Marathon (21.1KM), Challengers Run (10KM), Family Run (5KM), and the newly introduced Fun Run (2KM) – ensuring an unforgettable race-day experience for runners of all ages and abilities.

Set against Colombo’s stunning coastal scenery and dynamic cityscape, the ICA International Half-Marathon offers more than just a race; it is a celebration of health, community, diversity, and international camaraderie.

Proceeds from the event will once again support impactful CSR initiatives across Sri Lanka, including organ donation awareness, orphan care, environmental sustainability projects, and other community development programmes.

Objective 1

Half Marathon

Half Marathons have gained incredible popularity worldwide, inspiring people from all walks of life, and serving as a platform for individuals from different backgrounds to come together and engage in regular physical activity, emphasizing the importance of fitness, a healthy lifestyle, and well-being. Also, Half Marathons are probably the only sport that can be participated in by thousands of people and yet be completed within 3~4 hours. ICA International Half Marathon is open to all ages and abilities.
The event will encompass different race categories, including :

Half marathon (21.0975 km)
Challengers Run (10 km)
Family Run (5 km)
Fun Run (2 km)

Objective 2

Organ Donation Drive

Every marathon is run for a cause and ours is to encourage Organ Donation. As per statistics, the daily death rate in this world is about 150,000 people per day. And out of this number, about 100,000 people die waiting for an organ or due to organ failure.

It’s a matter of shame that just 0.1% of the world population donates their organs and the rest are simply cremated or incinerated. If organs are timely harvested, each donor could save at least 8 lives and enhance over 75 lives.

We believe that the participants of this event can effect a timely change and promote the importance of organ donation.

Objective 3

Charity

ICA Sri Lanka has and continues to support 10,600 less-fortunate children living in 367 orphanages in Sri Lanka.

Organized a Nationwide art competition for these children.

16 Sep 2022
During Covid, members donated 700 computers so that children living in orphanages of Sri Lanka could attend online classes.

16 July 2022
During the recent Economical crisis in Sri Lanka, when food was a scarcity, we donated 100 days of ration worth 80 Million rupees to these 367 orphanages catering to 10,600 children.

Objective 4

Tourism

Sri Lanka had claimed the top spot in the world’s leading travel guide, the Lonely Planet, as the best travel destination in 2019. Sri Lanka was also ranked as a top destination for winter travel by USA Today in 2019. CNN Travel ranked Sri Lanka as one of the 20 best places to visit in 2020.
Moreover, many Indians are emotionally connected with Lord Ram & Sita Devi. We encourage all participants to use this golden opportunity to explore the Ramayana Trail and other local attractions before or after the ICA International Half Marathon is concluded.

Objective 5

Recognition & Prize Money

All participants will be appreciated with a medal and certificate duly endorsed by supporting organizations. The top 10 finishers of each race (Male & Female) will be substantially rewarded with cash prize as below. Total prize money is 5,700,000 LKR
